Psalm 30:11-12
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
Alright, friends. It’s time to dance.
Seriously.
I dare you to listen to today’s accompanying song and not start dancing a little jig in response. In fact, I may just have to pull out my tap shoes and dust them off.
It’s not that the suffering is over. It’s not that the sorrow’s done. It’s that God meets us in the midst of our mourning and sets our feet dancing. It’s that God comes to us in the dust and the ashes and clothes us with joy. It’s that God makes a way where there is no way.
And so we dance.
And sing.
And lift our voices in praise of this God who refuses to leave us mired in grief.
It’s time to dance. Let’s get to it.
Come, Jesus, come. Free our feet for dancing. Free our hearts for praise. Help our toes tap to the rhythm of your saving mercy. Amen.
Today’s accompanying song is Dance at Migdal Eder by Christy Nockels.
